I totally relate to what David says above about religious bigots making him mad; I find myself surprised at my own own anger toward those among us who seem so intensely focused on specific rules.

I adore your conclusions here. I'm so grateful that God does have a plan for our lives, that He is a good God, and that we can have peace in knowing that He will bring His plans to pass (even when I take detours from the path).Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15692160455833039396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947901677057635396.post-42145013968154171422009-11-18T17:09:02.109-05:002009-11-18T17:09:02.109-05:00Believing, understanding, and following the words ...Believing, understanding, and following the words of the Bible through Him can only come from constant study and prayer. Boy, did that open a can of worms. You know, the thing is that baptism has been misconstrued in the Church. It is an ordinance. We are called to do it. But, I wouldn't force someone to be dunked when they could only be sprinkled. It is not the means, it is the act, in obedience to Scripture.Burkulaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15165443676927374968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947901677057635396.post-43932743880736139072009-11-18T13:58:04.732-05:002009-11-18T13:58:04.732-05:00Man, I can feel the pain. Pharisees = Religious Bigots, and they make me madder then a cat in a paper sack.

It makes me very sad when the small strides we make in our faith are pushed back by know-it-alls, instead of being lovingly built upon. For some reason we are taught that we can't learn something on our own - or that a denomination has all the answers. The problem with that thinking is that sound doctrine can only be achieved when all the steps are taken - you are not going to get the car down the road unless you put it in gear. Just turning on it on is not enough - unless the goal is only to get the car to come to life.

So many times we ask ourselves, what are the steps to faith that saves us? But we don’t ask what are the steps to fullness in Christ - being a disciple - are.

I have to say, I am glad that no one told me that my salvation required baptism. And I am glad that I decided to do it as an adult. It was meaningful to me personally, to have the immersion experience. None was required.

If you want to be a productive Christian - here are the steps to discipleship.

http://fireandgrace.blogspot.com/2008/12/foundations-of-spirit-filled-life.html

If you just want a ticket to Heaven - read Romans 10:9-10, that's all there is to it.

Thanks, Tony. You're good man, a friend and faithful servant of our Savior.Davidhttp://www.fireandgrace.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947901677057635396.post-59262558335305858152009-11-18T12:30:17.736-05:002009-11-18T12:30:17.736-05:00John 12:42-43 says, "But because of the Phari...John 12:42-43 says, "But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God." King David knew that God didn't desire his burnt offerings or religious rituals, He came to see that "the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart." When it comes to matters of the heart and of faith, the only truth can be found in His written word and the words He speaks when we seek Him in prayer. Everything else = revelation of man. Love this post. He has a plan indeed. As I like to say, some of us are just more stubborn than others! :)Nadiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11972401805699549570noreply@blogger.com
